Securing your child

There have been a number of important changes to the law in Britain on the use of child restraints in cars and goods vehicles from the 18th September 2006. The changes have also been made in Northern Ireland since late Autumn 2006.

The law states that children of all ages must be secured in a car, whether they are newborn babies or teenagers. The driver of the car is responsible for making sure that everyone under the age of 14 years old is wearing their seat belt. If there are not enough seat belts for everyone, children under three must be secured first.
